Questions about how Secret Santa works?
Here are answers to what people ask most: the draw, the emails, the host page and Santa Pass. Click a question to see the answer.
Yes, drawing and sending the emails is free. Santa Pass is an optional extra for the whole group.
No. The draw happens automatically and nobody, not even you as the host, can see who got who.
For each person you can pick someone they cannot draw. An exclusion only works one way, so for a couple, add the exclusion to both of them.
Everybody in the group can ask the person they are giving to anonymous questions. You also get reveal day, when everybody guesses who their Secret Santa was, and you can pick your own package theme. The draw and the emails are free with or without the pass.
Your address as the host only gets our newsletter if you tick the box for it. Everyone else's address is used for this draw only, for the invitations and the reminders. Nothing else.
Ask them to check their spam folder first. Otherwise you can fix the address or send it again from your host page.
Yes, with Santa Pass, from the host page. Everybody is drawn again and gets a new email with their new person.
Only if you tick the box for it in the last step. Then we keep your name and email address and may email you news and fun stuff about Secret Santa Generator. The people you invite never end up on that list. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every newsletter.
In your own Secret Santa email. It has a Manage your group button that takes you to a page with the whole group, where you look after the emails. Keep that email so you can find your way back.
Yes. Next to each person you can see whether their package is open and how many times their email has been sent. That costs nothing. With Santa Pass you also see whether the email was delivered and whether they have visited their page.
On the host page, click Change next to them, type the right address and choose Save and send again. Each address can get the email five times at most, but the count starts over when you change the address. There is also a daily limit on how many emails one address can get, so sometimes you have to wait until the next day.
As long as somebody has not opened their package, the host page has a button to remind them. It sends their email again, and you can use it once a day. The button is there for 90 days after the draw.
One. If you picked a gift exchange date, everybody gets an email about four days before it, with the budget and a link to the wish list if there is one. Without a date it arrives on December 15. Anyone who would rather not get it can stop reminders with the link in that email.
The whole group is drawn again, new person included. Everybody gets a new email with a new person to give to, and the old email no longer counts. Wish lists stay as they are. It cannot be undone, and adding somebody needs Santa Pass.
Click the button in the email. A package is waiting for you: shake it three times and the name appears. To look again later, go back in through the same email.
On your page you write down what you would like, and under Good to know you can add things like your size or what you cannot have. Your secret Santa sees the list, nobody else does, and you never find out who they are. The wish list is free.
Yes, if your group has Santa Pass. You write the question on your page and Santa passes it on. They get it by email and answer without knowing who asked, and the answer comes back to your page and your inbox.
At the bottom of the reminder email there is a Stop reminders link. Confirm on the page that opens and you will not get any more reminders about this draw.
$7.90 for the whole group, paid once.
Anyone in the group. The host buys it from the host page and everybody else from their own page. One purchase is enough, and if somebody got there first the pass is already active and you do not pay anything.
Yes. You can tick the pass when you make the draw, but buying it later works just as well.
